One of my favorite quotes is, “Carpe Diem”, which means “seize the day”. The origin of the phrase is traced to a Latin poem from the book of Horace, Odes Book- I and encourages people to seize the day, trust in the future as little as possible. In simple words, it means to enjoy today and the moment without wasting time, because no one knows what may happen in the future. I believe that we should take things a day at a time and just be happy and live in the moment. Yes, I know it is human nature to worry about tomorrow and all that life throws at us but worrying is never a good idea. So today I want to share 6 ways that we can all live our best lives this year are:
- Live in the present.
Every day is a new opportunity to live your best life. Stop worrying about what you’ll do tomorrow and do it today. You might say, “I’ll wear this cute dress when I feel more confident”. But how about starting right now. Wear your cute dress right now for you!
2. Enjoy the simple things.
Sometimes we get so busy with life that we forget to live, we forget the simple things. We have so many things to be grateful for like having a roof over our heads, our families, having food on the table etc. We can start a gratitude journal where every day when we wake up we can write down 3 things that we are grateful for. Then at the end of the week, go back through your list. This will bring us even greater happiness.
3. Waking up early.
I started this blog in December 2019 but I wasn’t really committed to it and would only write once in a while. However, since mid April 2020, I started being consistent with my blog posts and waking up early is something that I now enjoy because I look forward to creating these articles to share with people. Waking up early will set the tone for your day and will give you a chance to get many things done.
This is something I would like to start doing and I know it will be hard because my mind is constantly going. Thinking of new ways to be creative, new businesses I can start, new things that I can learn. Meditating can relax us at the end of a full day and can even help us to get better sleep at nights. Let us all try to meditate a few times a week for at least 15 minutes.
I exercise occasionally, but I have a plan. Haha. Fitness is something that I want to focus more on. I am committed to working out more because I would like to be fit and toned. Exercise has so many great benefits so this will be a win win situation. Starting next week, I will be posting more about my fitness routine here on the blog so you all can hold me accountable. lol
6. Saving Money.
I am not good at this but I want to be. My husband works in Finance and I’ve asked him to teach me how to effectively manage money and save more. At the end of the year maybe I should update this post to see if I implemented any of these. I will though.
