Cape Cod’s Love Live Local Festival: Giving local artists a platform to connect with customers.

According to their website, Love Live Local, is a non-profit organization, dedicated to community advocacy and educating consumers on the importance of shopping local. I was introduced to the organization when I applied to display my work in one of our local Art Shanties. In order to be a part of the festival, you need to be a local business, have handmade products, have a website and social media pages.

There are 3 staging of the festival annually (July, September and their holiday event in December). If you are chosen by the organizers, you will pay a $125 fee for each event and would need a tent, table and chairs. You will be invited to join their Facebook group which is great for networking with other business owners. Your business will be highlighted on their social media pages and your website will also be linked to their website so persons who aren’t able to attend the festivals can still get a chance to shop and support local vendors.

I applied for all 3 events this year. The July event was amazing! Here I would meet Amanda and Jen who are the founders of the Love Live Local organization. They introduced me to many other artists and made sure I was okay. With the help of my husband and one of my friends, we were able to set up my booth with ease. The atmosphere was exciting with the live band playing, the smell of food and all the tourists and locals checking out the different vendors. I got the chance to network with other entrepreneurs and I also sold a lot of items.

The second event in September was even more awesome than the first, because there were so many customers who bought earrings and other products from me at the first show; that came back to my booth, to buy more items or just to tell me how they loved something that they bought from me in July. At this event, I also had the chance to network with other entrepreneurs, such as the awesome Will Rubenstein, who introduced me to other resources that are available for small business owners on the Cape.

He also helped me to sign up for mentorship with SCORE, which is the nation’s largest volunteer expert business mentors. I meet with my mentors every other week and they help me navigate through things I need to take my business to the next level. SCORE has mentors all over the US, if you are a small business owner who is interested in mentorship.

The third event will be held Saturday December 4th 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The event will showcase local vendors, local music through a live band, food and drinks from local businesses. This staging will be perfect for anyone looking to buy gifts for their loved ones for the holiday. I am in the process of making earrings and home décor items and other lifestyle products that I will be featuring for this event.

If, you are a local small business owner on Cape Cod, the Love Live Local festival is a great way to get your products in front of the local community and a great way to network with other small business owners.

One of the most amazing thing that happened as a result of me participating in the festival, is the wonderful partnership that I have made with The Love Live Local Organization. As a result of this, some of my handmade earrings and home décor items will be sold at The Love Live Local store on Main Street in Hyannis.
